Annual Spain Trip With Virginia & Annie B 2018

Day 1 – Friday, May 20th

Welcome to Vejer Check in to Hotel (www.lacasadelcalifa.com)

Annie B & Virginia will come to meet you at 8pm to start your culinary adventure with a delicious tapas tour of beautiful Vejer.


Day 2 – Saturday, May 21st

Fish Day

Depart by mini-coach for the town of Barbate to the fish and produce market with a coffee stop enroute. It’s local market filled with most delicious fresh local fish and fruit. It’s the season of The Almadraba, the harvest of the blue fin tuna & hopefully we will see lots of these huge fish on display. We’ll head to a tuna preserve factory and watch a ronqueo. Following which we will lunch at the best fish & seafood restaurant in Spain – El Campero and enjoy a menu degustacion of the new season’s Blue Fin Tuna.

Following a long Spanish lunch you will head back to your hotel for siesta.

That evening you will be welcomed to Annie’s home, Casa Alegre to enjoy rooftop drinks, Flamenco music and some delicious snacks

Day 3 – Sunday, May 22nd

Trip to Morocco

Sunday is the beginning of the week in Morocco and the Berber woman come to Tangiers from their farms to sell fresh vegetable & cheeses. Leaving Vejer at 7.45am, to catch the ferry from Tarifa at 9.00am to arrive in Tangiers 45 minutes later. Delicious coffee & fabulous fluffy croissants are available on the ferry for breakfast. In Tangiers we will be met by our guide for the day who will escort us around the Kasbah, Medina and on the short ride to see the Atlantic coast and beautiful beaches at Cape Spartal (where the Atlantic meets the Med). A fabulous fish lunch and shopping before we catch the return ferry at 5.30pm.

Arrive back in Vejer to enjoy an evening of leisure, probably in need of reviving G&Ts.

Day 4 – Monday, May 23rd

Cooking Class

Shopping for lunch ingredients will be the task this morning as we stroll through Vejer chatting to various vendors. Then back to the kitchen for a relaxed “hands on cooking class”. Today in the kitchen you will be learning about traditional Andalucian tapas with Annie and her fabulous assistant Pepi. Today the dishes might include Melon & Mint Gazpacho, Carrots & Cumin, Prawns in Garlic, Tuna & Red Pepper Salad, Chorizo & Pork Meatballs, Pepi’s Tortilla, Sticky Orange, Lemon & Almond Cake. You will learn all about Iberian Pork and the associated delicacies and of course – more Sherry & wines.

Wine Workshop with Virginia. Siesta. Dinner in a local restaurant

Day 5 – Tuesday, May 24th

Free Day

Free Day to enjoy the beauty of Vejer. To wander along the alleyways, maybe a little shopping in the unique boutiques. Or take a taxi to the beautiful beach of El Palmar to enjoy lunch by the beautiful Atlantic ocean. We will meet for a farewell to Vejer dinner.


Day 6 – Wednesday, May 25th

Sherry Day

All aboard! Our Sherry bus leaves at 9.30am for The Sherry Triangle. A magical tour of Sherry, fine art, history and some great food. You will be visiting bodegas in El Puerto de Santa Maria and Jerez . A delicious lunch of Gaditano specialities will be enjoyed in Cádiz. Coffee will be sipped overlooking the colourful boats on Playa Caleta. Tonight you will stay in Jerez so that you can head out on the early morning flights or continue your journey in Spain

Day 7 – Thursday, May 26th


It’s always sad to say goodbye but the Spanish have a great saying – Hasta Pronto!
